In 2022, our founder Jason faced a moment every pet owner dreads—the final days with his beloved dog, Kimo. As he looked back on their years together—weekend hikes, the silly tricks Kimo performed for strangers, the barks that filled the house, and the countless small moments that shaped their family—Jason searched for a way to preserve those memories in a truly meaningful, lasting form.
His search eventually led him to companies offering diamonds made from human ashes. He wondered:Could something like this be created from Kimo?
The answer was yes, but the process came with many limitations. Most of the carbon burns away during cremation, making it impossible to guarantee the color, size, or clarity of the resulting diamond. The process was costly, unpredictable, and certainly not designed for pets.
With his background in technology and engineering, Jason dug deeper. He discovered something game-changing:pet hair naturally contains about 50% amorphous carbon, perfectcarbon source material. If carbon could be extracted directly from the hair, the results could be superior.
Driven by this insight and his curiosity, Jason collaborated with experienced diamond manufacturers to refine a new carbon-extraction method. Together, they developed a process capable of creating a clear, brilliant one-carat diamond from just six grams of pet hair—literally a handful of hair.
